Clear Channel sinks lower still.

Just got done talking to an exec at a Clear Channel talk station in a major market. He has a memo circulated from the boys at Bain which makes an ominous threat. The memo states massive layoffs have been queued pending the outcome of the election. The word is, if Romney is elected, minimal staffing ...

Re: Occupy the FCC?

Problem is, broadcasters that have behaved badly are supported by the Republican trickle-down tea party crowd, same crowd those broadcasters cater to in 99 percent of their talk shows, and even programming on their country and classic rock stations. They have friends in high places, and largely on t...

Weather Services

I'm trying to find a weather service that can provide professional, quality sounding local forecasts - we're in a market where using WeatherEye is not an option. Who else should I be checking out?

Re: Will Radio Get Worse Before it Gets Better?

What I find amazing is it seems people are trying the same things in different packaging and headlining these as new accomplishments. Re: HD Radio = HUGE DISASTER!!!

FM, great points but a technicality. FM originally gained traction because it was an alternative to AM top 40. The explosion in FM was due to album rock. Now that most stations are run as Top 40 of whatever format they are, perhaps the future of compelling HD programming is to be more experimental, ...

Re: Has Christian radio forgot about men/husbands/fathers?

But for that matter, is the music keeping pace? Today's men (and women) listen to hiphop, alternative, active rock, dance and so many styles. Yet 90% of Christian radio is AC to Hot AC at best. I don't think most Christian radio appeals to men, Christian or seeking. I can count on one hand the Radio...

Moving into the majors

I've got about 8 years experience (PD, OM, etc) in smaller markets. I've relocated close to a major market (top 20) and they're looking for board ops/street teamers. My question is how do I successfully communicate the fact that I'm willing to "start over" in a sense? I know these jobs typically go ...
