Re: UNPAID GIGS
Do yo really think millionaires go to these fund raisers and give money to be kind? No, they do it because it creates a common ground to work with other millionaires which leads to big money agreements. So why do you imagine anyone who's been successful on any level in radio is going to invest thei...

A posting like this is a red flag that says, "I have no business model. I also have no investors to pay people who work on my behalf."

A barely acceptable beginners' outfit is going to set you back $200 *if you know what you look for* used, a GOOD beginners' ou...
Re: Jobs
Wow. That's some bullshit we're seeing here. You'd think all of the entry-level on-air positions that led to the possibility of moving up the ladder all went away, only in the last four years. You'd think the consolidation that began in 1984 (thanks, Ronnie!) and exploded in the 1990s never happened...

Re: Can you earn a livible wage in radio today???
Yes, you can. The problem is, those with their hands on the levers of power aren't going to share that power with people who are content with a living wage. And don't waste your 40k on a communications degree. At least, first talk to the department head, ask them what their placement rate is for gra...

Re: 5 jobs for one salary - Really?
When I was starting out in a small market I worked the morning show and was the promotions director. I also worked as the morning co-host, news director, public affiars director and did production for another station years later (and this was in the 90's). Call it luck or divine intervention, I'm b...

Sad.
Metro traffic used to provide a great service with locals providing not just traffic, but informed news-gathering. Now when my regular guy isn't on vacation - or forced into furlough - it's canned traffic from someone a state away. And the CEO is making, what?
