Re: MJ on Classic Rock?
Beat It probably got some play on what we called AOR stations back in the day. But that was probably it.
I doubt Billie Jean got played or PYT at AOR radio. So other than Beat It, I'd question anything else.
MTV played "Top 40" hits. MTV is what brought CHR back from the dead.

Re: MJ on Classic Rock?
Both are high testing songs at Classic Hits..perhaps Classic Rock as well. Still more appropriate than MJ on Classic ROCK!

Re: Questions: Remote Broadcast with Smart Phones/ Tablets
After several years of pre-recording all remote breaks the day or so before the event, we have recently begun using an Android phone with the Voice App that came with the phone. The audio is great quality. I think today's expectations does not allow for just a cell phone call (although I had an AE a...

Re: Taylor Swift Overexposed??
Taylor Swift is that rare artist that can pit a CD out that includes some songs for pop/ac, some for country, and some for both formats. Taylor will continue to be country as long as she continues to include that genre on her CDs.

Re: Cumulus Country
I get very offended by people who suggest that Cumulus employees are somehow incompetent because " all decisions are handed down by Atlanta." Some of the best programmers in this industry work for Cumulus. Gooky, I agree. Cumulus has some very talented programmers. Never said they didn't. Problem is...

Re: Cumulus Country
Envy of what? Cumulus is the worst run company in radio. Citadel had an awful and "money grabbing CEO" in Farid and his greed ultimately turned his post bankruptcy shareholders against him. Lew, the vulture, knew exactly when to strike and it worked out for him. At Citadel, programmers are allowed t...

Re: Age discrimination - does it exist in our industry?
That certainly seems like a pretty over the top to anyone who would apply at any company in any business. The answer to your question is a RESOUNDING YES!! But good luck proving it. And if you would pursue legal action, expect many broadcast companies to blackball you. Unfortunate, but true. I'd jus...

Re: Bill Figenshu
The first station I'm aware of to use "sing tags" is Jerry Lee's B101 in Philly. Jerry and his programmers at the B are very research focused and would not put anything on their radio station without having a very clear idea of it being the right thing to do. Song tags take care of the #1 complaint ...

Re: WXXL Sex Toy Giveaway
This is just disgusting. No appropriate for any day. It's no wonder this country has gone to hell in a hand basket. Some matters are best left...private.
Where is the line??????????????????????????????????? I don't know anymore.

Re: Taylor Swift Overexposed??
Listen to the lyrics of Fifteen. It's every young woman's life. This song will be on every A/C and CHR station after the holidays. As far as Taylor Swift being overexposed. Taylor has a much better head on your shoulders than either Britney or Lady Gaga. How she handled herself at the award shows an...
