KEZK picks up The Answer Radio Show from sister station KYKY

Post by jgibsonatrl » Fri Feb 05, 2010 9:44 pm

2 weeks ago, KEZK has begun airing The Answer Radio Show w/ Stel Pontikes instead of its longtime home KYKY. The show has been on since the early 1980s on KYKY [KRCH during its first couple of years] 98.1, and is the longest-running weekly Contemporary Christian Music show on a mainstream music radio station in the US. This was probably expected once the Modern AC-leaning WSDD came on the scene over a month ago, thus KYKY's been leaning more Pop and Country crossover lately (Ke$ha's TiK ToK and Lady Antebellum's Need You Now) What will replace The Answer on KYKY? maybe AT40:HAC Version or Rick Dees? From the time of The River's demise in September 2006 till the last month, KYKY's playlist was centrist to slightly AAA/Alt-leaning HAC.

KEZK is probably THE most conservative major market AC (if not the whole panel [Monitored or Published]) station, as far as adding new music. For a song to be a big smash on AC radio, it has to be added at KEZK, thus creating the KEZK Litmus Test.
